I'd like to first take this opportunity to welcome Troy Stratton as the RDAUG co-manager. Troy's been very active within the group, and wants to see us grow, so I'm glad to be working with him! In fact...I'm copying his notes on what we are shooting for in RDAUG between the monthly meetings.

Anyway, we're really excited regarding the turn out and the discussions we had during our last meeting.
It is now time to start gatheri...

Bruce,

Don't sweat it. This distinction between "scripting" and
"programming" is not crisp, it's a soft, semantic thing. ...

I've recently gotten a good handle on using the spry
framework in Dreamweaver and the tags that are part of a good practice
when creating forms in DW. Now, I'm looking at creating and
processing forms with Flash and Flex. This is different.
Can someone suggest some reading or content on the web, or
your own explanations that might help with doing this. I can work
with PHP for form processing. I want to be s...

Working with Forms in Flex

Hello all,
I think I wasn't clear when I discussed something related to
this previously in a posting. I see some very useful and elegant
tools for creating form elements using Flex. When designing in xhtml,
using Dreamweaver, I call the form processor from the opening form
tag, which calls a php file - that's I have been using, mainly for
form processing. It returns the values entered.
I'm not clear how this would work in F...

I was going through some tutorials on Flex 3 just recently, that
I found on Flex that were available on the Flex start screen when you
start the application. The tutorial on creating a Flickr application
was pretty interesting and rather simple to do. That is described
here:

I think there is a mp3 player that is described on the pages on adobe

OT: Windows Web Hosting and Mashups - clarification please.

Hi.
I had thought of "scripting" languages as being languages like
php, Coldfusion, Javascript and such, but not compiled languages. I
guess, now that I think about it, scripting languages like
ActrionScript, and MXML are compiled with the application.
I'm just a bit confused. I'll have to research things more
but this gets confusing. JScript sounds like a javascript language.
But MS Visual Studio .NET has J#. ...

Flex 3: datagrid dataProvider filter

Basically, I've got several datagrids that need to display data from one ArrayCollection (created from XML which was created by PHP from MySQL data), but each datagrid would need to display this data with different filters applied.

The issue I have is that when you apply a filter function to the dataProvider of a datagrid, you apply that filter to the source collection which affects any other datagrid views of that source collection. I need a ...
