on Sep 13 in Meetings

September 13, 2007

Presentation Strategies Inc. 4021 Stirrup Creek Drive Suite 220 Durham, NC 27703

Our September meeting will be held on Thursday, September 13th at 6:30pm at Presentation Strategies in RTP.
Pizza will be provided courtesy Tomato Jakes in Durham.
In this meeting, presenter Nathan Huening of OnWired (www.OnWired.net) will show off siFR. sIFR (or Scalable Inman Flash Replacement) is a technology that allows you to replace text elements on screen with Flash equivalents.

Also in this meeting, we'll kickoff a series of Flex presentations in an effort for our members to get up to speed on how to develop Flex & AIR applications.
This month, Ben Farrell (me) will be presenting on how to develop Flex/AIR/AS3 applications on the cheap without having to buy Flex Builder. This should be enough to get you all started in Flex even if you can't afford it right away. I'll be showing off my software of choice, Flash Develop and building a simple Flex/AIR project before your very eyes, and show how to build an AS3 only project. Please also drop me a note if you use the Flex SDK with other software, especially on the Mac, so I can do an overview of other solutions that I don't use.
I'd also like to put out a call for presentations, especially Flex ones for the upcoming months. One thing I'd really like for October is a practical overview of Flex container components. I've been fighting them to make my layouts work, and I'd love someone who know about this to present!

Thanks everyone! Looking forward to our September meeting!
