(please note that the forums, yahoo groups, rss, and twitter are intertwined - so you'll get the same chat whichever you choose)
Meeting Time: 6:30pm on Tuesday July 29nd
PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE! DUE TO A SCHEDULING CONFLICT WITH THE LOCATION, WE CAN NO LONGER HAVE THE MEETING ON THE 22nd.
Location: Railinc Corporate Headquarters, 7001 Weston Parkway, Suite 200 Cary, NC 27513
Join the Raleigh Durham Adobe User Group and the Triangle User
Experience for the first of many shared meetings! Presenting first will
be Ben Farrell and Eric Coker taking you through the basics of Adobe
Fireworks CS3. Eric will specifically be covering image exporting, and
Ben will be covering a basic workflow from Photoshop to Fireworks to
Dreaweaver or to Flex. For those of you who don't know, Fireworks is
the best program you've never used - it saves loads of production time
if you can integrate into your workflow properly, and we'll show you
just how to do that, along with some basic features.
Next, as our groups join forces and meet, we'll be asking those with an
idea or a desire to learn speak up and let us know what's on your mind.
The "Project Incubator" is our idea to get innovative ideas out there
and get skilled people together on these innovative ideas. Here's how
it works....You present an idea you have for a project, let us know what
your goals are and if you'd like to make money on it or just bask in
fame for doing something very cool. As a group, we'll ask you
questions, offer our critiques and concerns over how to meet goals, what
wrinkles lie ahead for your plan, etc.. At the end of the meeting,
we'll all socialize and see if people would like to help you on your
project or vice versa. It's like a support group for future
web/software inventors and renown artists!
If you're just starting out, and are a little shy to talk projects -
maybe your a beginner and are still learning, we'll also host the
"Learning Incubator" portion of the group. Here we'll be asking those
with a desire to learn a particular subject to speak up. We'll try to
put some groups together to learn a subject, and hopefully we'll put
groups with a volunteer instructor.
And lastly, we'll be providing one lucky winner with a software prize
worth up to $2100. If you present a project idea to
the incubator, or offer your expertise to lead a group to learn a
particular subject, we'll give you a raffle ticket to win the Adobe
software prize.
Please RSVP by leaving a comment in this post! You're also welcome to leave other comments or suggestions in this post.

Jul 7, 2008 at 11:07 PM I am planning to attend, unless I get stuck at work !
Jul 8, 2008 at 10:55 AM Cool! Obviously I'm coming - but glad to see that Denny's coming - maybe he'll talk about his model ship project at the incubator. He's explained it to me several times in passing, but I think I need a full explanation to understand what the heck he's doing.
Jul 8, 2008 at 11:42 AM Looking forward to this meeting!
Jul 8, 2008 at 12:41 PM Will be there.
Jul 9, 2008 at 7:56 AM I'm new to working with Adobe products and am looking forward to this discussion. I will be there! Thanks!
Jul 11, 2008 at 2:43 PM Hi. I haven't been in awhile, but hope to make this meeting. Fireworks has been a great prototyping tool for me at work.
Jul 14, 2008 at 8:42 AM BTW here's a good article on how easy it is to make a clickable mockup in fireworks CS3.
Jul 14, 2008 at 9:59 AM Sorry to do this everyone, Adrian of the Triangle User Experience just informed me this morning of a conflict with the location during that week. I hate changing times like this, but I don't have a choice. We'll be doing it the following Tuesday on the 29th. My apologies!
Jul 28, 2008 at 8:31 AM I'll be there with a friend from work. Is the meeting at 6:00 or 6:30? Triangle User Experience lists the time as 6:00.
Jul 28, 2008 at 9:52 AM Hey Steve, good question! I listed it as 6:30, and the TUE listed it as 6:00. As a result, I'm saying that the presentation will start PROMPTLY at 6:30, but you can come as early as 6:00 to socialize. Lotsa times, we wait 15 minutes or so for everyone to trickle in, so we'll just save the trickling in for the 6:00-6:30
Jul 28, 2008 at 10:17 AM So we had some cancellations due to the change in meeting time, but current head count seems to be 8 RDAUGers and 14 TUEers. Lets hear some RSVP's from some more RDAUGers!
Jul 28, 2008 at 3:50 PM Is there going to be any food at the meeting? I'm just wondering if I need to get something on the way in.
Jul 28, 2008 at 4:32 PM Hey Steve, yah, I'll be ordering some pizza, and Adrian will be getting drinks.
Jul 29, 2008 at 8:52 AM phil's coming too, but apparently he's too cool to rsvp
Jul 29, 2008 at 10:12 AM Will be there...my first meeting! Found you on facebook!
Jul 29, 2008 at 10:25 AM Angela, how you found out about this meeting off of my facebook page, I'll never know, but glad to have you at the meeting!
