Annospace is a social reading and annotation experiment for documents. It was also my first Flex application.
It is different from other "sticky note" and highlighter type solutions
in that annotations are hierarchical and scoped to whole words,
phrases, sentences, paragraphs, and chapters. The idea is to prevent
the chaos of arbitrary comments and support hundreds of comments in a
document in a manageable, organized way.
It is built using Flex and Python and runs on Google App Engine. The documents are stored in Amazon S3.
Today on Adobe.com, CS3.3 just launched. You can now upgrade your Design Suite for $159 to include the new Acrobat 9 as well as a special offer for Fireworks CS3. Also today acrobat.com launched. This beta (signup at http://www.adobe.com/acom/) combines several online collaboration tools like Buzzword, Share, Connect, and more.

Sybase
I built two GIS-type applications. The
first is a map of the world showing the
Sybase offices (I work for Sybase). The
second is a proof of concept for a mobile app to track vehicles. For this
one, I used the UNC street map and put
in fictional buildings and bus routes.
Tools used:
- Adobe Illustrator
- Adobe Flex
- Adobe Flash
- Sybase ASE (for the world database)
- Sybase ASA (for the mobile database)

TEK Systems 1201 Edwards Mills Rd Ste 201, Raleigh
For our (rather late in the month) May meeting we'll get a presentation from Eric Coker on using Javascript to automate tasks in Adobe applications. We'll also hear from Ben Farrell with a lesson on using the gradient mesh tool in Illustrator. Gradient Meshes allow you the ultimate control with your gradient fills to create some great 3D looking effects.
Dreamweaver, Fireworks, and Soundbooth Betas available
on May 27 in News (Adobe & RDAUG)
No Comments »Having personally seen a Dreamweaver CS "Next" demo, I can vouch for the coolness. The new "Live View" feature renders your page with Webkit (just like you'd see it in Safari) right in the Dreamweaver IDE. You'll never want to use the crummy design view again. Oh yah, and there's new Fireworks and Soundbooth Betas, but I haven't seen the demos so I can't vouch for them yet! Find them here!
