About Us
The Raleigh Durham Adobe User Group consists of Adobe product users living in or around the Triangle area of North Carolina. The Triangle spans the cities of Raleigh, Durham, and Chapel Hill. It also includes RTP (Research Triangle Park), which is the largest research park in the world and home to over 100 research and development organizations.
Our organization is a non-profit group with an open membership. The only requirement is an interest or enthusiasm for Adobe software. By simply coming to a meeting or participating in our website or forums, you are welcome to claim yourself a member.
Ben Gomez Farrell currently leads the group. He's a recent transplant to Durham from Boston and works as a Software Engineer at 360KID in Boston, MA. He's been using Adobe/Macromedia software professionally for 10 years.
This website and its forums serve as the virtual meeting space for our organization. It features tips and tricks, book and software reviews, the latest projects by our members, news, events, and more. Nothingbeats meeting in person, however: this is why we have meetings every month. The meetings have featured guest speakers, online presentations, Adobe experts, or simply an informal presentation from a knowledgable member in our group.
Join Us
RDAUG currently has an open membership with no fees. To join, simply come to any meetings that interest you, participate in our forums, or find a way to help contribute to our community or website. To find out how you can help, contact admin@rdaug.org and let us know if you've done any of these things so we can add your name to the RDAUG member list. Membership is open, free and easy in order to encourage people to participate and grow the group. The more people in our group, the more appealing it looks to our visitors: we hope to grow our small group into a large organization that can have a great affect on the Triangle area multimedia community.
Get Involved!
The first and most important step is coming to our monthly meetings. Meetings are open to anyone interested in our group and/or the presented topics. Those who wish to be involved with the group often make an effort to attend our meetings even if the topic doesn't interest them, since there are additional benefits: it gives you the chance to catch some great presentations by some talented people and provides a venue for socializing and networking with great people who use Adobe products. You can ask questions, get advice, and maybe find a job or employee. Long-time members and newcomers alike are always welcome to give suggestions to help make RDAUG what they want it to be.
The next best thing to attending meetings is joining our forums. The forums give our members a chance to communicate between meetings and post jobs, post resumes, get Adobe news, and ask questions and advice from our member base. You don't have to register to read our forums, but when you do register you can post threads and even view our members-only category with great discount codes for books and software. Our forums also offer a RSS feed to keep up to date on the latest discussions threads. To keep tabs on all posts (not just new threads), you can subscribe to our more comprehensive RSS feed. For more information on our online messaging system, visit this page for more information.
Help us Out!
If you do choose to get involved, we can use your help to keep the website updated with your member info, latest project, and various member resources. We also ask members to help keep the calendar up to date by posting upcoming events that relate to our industry. To find out how to actively update our website and calendars, sign on to our forums and use the information provided in the "RDAUG Only Information" category.
We like to think of our forums and meetings as the inner-workings of RDAUG. The website, however, we think of as the professional front we put out for the world. Helping to keep the website updated and active is a great way to grow our community and we'd love help!
